Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How much does an assessment cost?
Our assessment service costs are in line with the Recommended Fee Schedule outlined by the Psychologists Association of Alberta. Typically, we bill $220 per hour for assessment and intervention services; however, we would be happy to discuss each individual request.
How long does an assessment typically take?
This is a difficult question to answer, as each assessment is unique to each individual. However, we would often see individuals over the course of several sessions to gather information (observations, rating scales, direct assessment 1:1, meetings with caregivers), and then meet with families and/or school teams to discuss assessment results.
What is Regulation?
Regulation as a whole refers to the ability of being able to adjust as a response to change. Therefore, self-regulation is an internal (individual/self) response to change. For example, when you’re upset, with self-regulation strategies, you may be able to calm yourself down. On the other hand, dysregulation refers to the inability to control your emotional response, and engage in an adaptive response.
